James D'Arcy played Sherlock Holmes in a made for TV movie, Sherlock (2002). Robert Downey Jr., who portrays Howard's son Tony Stark aka Iron Man in the "modern day" Marvel/Avengers films, has appeared as Sherlock Holmes several times, including Sherlock Holmes (2009) and Sherlock Holmes - Gioco di ombre (2011).
