According to LeVar Burton, during the production of the first season, he would spend hours seated on the bridge set, with little or no speaking. This led to some tedium, which would cause him to doze off, or completely fall asleep. However, this was barely noticeable, as his closed eyes were hidden by the VISOR prop.
