When Fillmore starts playing the electric guitar version of the national anthem and Sarge (Paul Dooly) says "Turn that Down" and Fillmore replies "Respect the classics, man - It's Hendrix!". While this is an obvious reference to guitar legend Jimi Hendrix, it also likely has a secondary meaning tying in with the racing double meaning theme of the movie as there is a legendary NASCAR team Hendrick Motorsports founded and owned by the Hendrick Family (thus Hendrick's) and more specifically it's patriarch Rick Hendrick. Hendrick Motorsports is one of the most successful organizations in NASCAR history boasting over 270 Cup Series race wins and 13 Cup season championship (as of August 2021) including the entire careers of legends such as Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson.
