Most movies have only one screenwriter; this one has many. The film was adapted by Larry Gelbart, Barry Levinson (uncredited), Elaine May (uncredited), and Murray Schisgal from a story by Gelbart and Don McGuire. Gelbart, Levinson and May have all won Oscars.
