Lucy Pargeter was playing the regular role of Helen Raven in Crossroads (2001) when, during a production break to revamp the show in 2002, she took on the role of Chastity 'Chas' Dingle for two episodes. When the revamp of Crossroads failed, Pargeter telephoned the producers of Emmerdale and asked if they would be interested in having her back, and was back on screen within three months of Crossroads ending. As of 2022, 20 years on from her first appearance, she is still in the show.
