Abby Dalton played Barney Miller's wife Elizabeth in the pilot, Danny Arnold. When the show was picked up, she was replaced by Barbara Barrie. Also appearing in the original pilot were Abe Vigoda, Charles Haid, Rod Perry, Val Bisoglio, and Henry Beckman.
