Linda Reisman, who worked as a producer on Nick Nolte's Montréal-shot movie Confessione finale (1996), said in 1997 "We weren't originally planning to film Affliction in Montréal, but because I had such a great experience on Mother Night, and because I loved the crews so much, I decided to bring the film here."
