On re-watching the entire series run, with new information on Sheldon's upbringing via the "origin story" prequel series Young Sheldon (2017), some of the later TBBT running gags and story arcs become more fleshed out, and the reasoning for some of Sheldon's reasoning, behavior and eccentricities makes more sense. One of the more intriguing ones with hindsight is how Sheldon and Penny bonded over the series. It has similar parallels with young Sheldon's bond relationship with his sassy twin sister and how he is with both of them.
