In the scene where Mohawk drinks a potion which enables him to change into a centauroid spider, the pulsating sound effect from Tarantola (1955) can be heard. The effect was originally recorded for the Martian war machines in La guerra dei mondi (1953). The heavy metal song that plays in the background is one of the guitar solos from the band Slayer's 1986 song, "Angel of Death".
