When Harpo wants to place a bet on number 5 for the third time after having won twice, Groucho asks him: "Sure you want to go through with this? Remember what happened in 1929?"; a reference to the stock market crash of that year where Groucho also lost all of his gains from years of show business till then. The gambling scene itself also relates to their motivation in coming out of retirement to make this movie.
