(at around 18 mins) The scene where Eilean Donan Castle appears at sunset also features a song played on bagpipe, with the bagpiper in silhouette against the sunset when traveling ends. This song is Amazing Grace, a Christian hymn composed by Anglican clergyman and English poet John Newton, who created it in 1772 to illustrate a sermon for 1773 New Year's Day; it was published officially in 1779. As well as being used in the gospel tradition, it became highly popular during the revival of folk music in the 1960s, and is also sung at burials and funerals. The true origin of the melody remains unknown. That the bagpiper plays the music in a 1536 scene is not necessarily an anachronism, since Newton added words to a traditional melody.
