The script for the film necessarily had to cut out, or combine two or more characters in order to accommodate a two hour film. One of the most outrageous personas in the novel that was just begging to be cast and filmed was Scout's classmate Burris Ewell, son of the infamous Bob Ewell: an ignorant, boorish, and completely defiant country lout who would've made Huckleberry Finn shy away.
