By May 2018, David Leitch was working on an official extended edition of the film, which he said would be closer to his initial runtime and would include a cut montage of Deadpool trying to commit suicide in various ways as well as an extended sequence in the X-Mansion. He added that he would take the opportunity of the extended cut to also use alternate versions of jokes that did not make it into the theatrical version of the film.
