The Rifleman was one of the few American TV shows allowed to be aired on Soviet television beginning in 1973. Soviet Premier Leonid Brezhnev was a devoted fan of the show and had actually established a lifelong friendship with Chuck Connors since meeting him that year at a party hosted by President Nixon in California. Connors presented Brezhnev with a pair of authentic Colt Single Action Army "Six-Shooters".
