Deborah Baker Jr. was the third person to be cast as Esther and had to reshoot scenes from earlier episodes that were filmed with the original actresses. Despite appearing in most of the first season, she was only a "guest star" on the show and never knew if she would be in the next episode. Joel McHale (Jack) assured her she would be made a regular cast member come season two. Unfortunately, the show was cancelled.
