B&K Enterprises Costume Company made many jumpsuits, attire, and garments for Austin Butler during Elvis' Vegas period. The company was founded in 1980 by husband and wife team Butch Polston and Kim Polston. The business venture started with Butch's lifelong fan adoration for Elvis Presley. After Elvis' tragic passing in 1977, Butch spent the next few years searching for fan clubs in the hopes of obtaining any Elvis mementos, including one of his jumpsuits. Butch eventually got in touch with collectors who were selling jumpsuits, but it was too expensive to purchase, costing $20,000. Financially struggling, after his wife gave birth to their son and with his own designs, Butch found a seamstress who made four replica jumpsuits from scratch. He took the suits to a trade event in Memphis in 1980, and an impressed Elvis tribute artist purchased the suits for $500 each, totaling the entire purchase to $2000. Though he was initially hesitant, Kim urged Butch to take the money. She told him that they'll always make more suits. This led the couple to start a custom costume and wardrobe business. Out of respect, Butch reached out to Elvis' costume designers Bill Belew and Gene Doucette for permission to legally sell Elvis-esque jumpsuits and wardrobes. Belew and Doucette were very touched by the request and gave The Polstons their blessings. They gave the couple their original design patterns to use. Furthermore, Bill and Gene also trained the couple on how to make the suits from scratch. It takes about 200 to 300 hours of work on a single item, including intricate embroidery. Since 1993, B&K Enterprises has been in operation in Charlestown, Indiana.
