Doctor Who: The End of the World (2005) took place the same time as Doctor Who: The Plague (1966). In 'The Ark' The Earth starship 'The Ark' transports the last of humanity to a planet called Refusis II when Earth falls into the sun. In 'The End of the World', extra terrestrials gather aboard the observation deck space station 'Platform One' to observe the sun expanding and destroy Earth.
