Actor Donovan Scott, who played Cadet Leslie Barbara in the first film, mentioned that he actually did receive a copy of the script for the sequel. Scott balked at doing a reprisal, when a scene called for his character to 'eat cat poop'. After he also discovered that original director Hugh Wilson would not be returning, Scott turned down the sequel. Essentially, the character of Leslie Barbara was rewritten as new character Vinnie Schtulman, played by Peter Van Norden.
