In the first mystery, season one, episode five, "Ghost Story: Part 5", Alex (David López) speculated that there would eventually be a big mystery as to who Ghostwriter really was. The series ended in 1995 due to lack of funding, and the speculated episode never went into production. The writers had considered eventually revealing him to be a slave, possibly Jamal's (Sheldon Turnipseed's) ancestor, who was killed for teaching other slaves to read.
