This was at first going to star John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, until Belushi died. Plans were for the movie to star Harold Ramis and Dan Aykroyd. The next permutation was for John Candy and Dan Aykroyd as leads, with John Carpenter to direct. In the end, Aykroyd and Carpenter both left the movie, leading to Levy and Candy.
