As production for the seventh season had relocated from Los Angeles, California to Wilmington, North Carolina, Andy Griffith suggested to Clarence Gilyard, he'd move there, too, not too far, from Griffith, which fortunately, he did, for 1 year, before Gilyard had relocated himself to California, to co-star in Walker Texas Ranger (1993), after leaving the show.
