In Room, Jack reads "Alice in Wonderland," about a girl who falls through a rabbit hole and ends up in a strange fantasy land where the rules of her own world do not seem to apply. This foreshadows Jack escaping "Room" and ending up outside, in a world he does not know and has difficulty comprehending.
