Xuxa was still in a relationship with Ayrton Senna during filming and revealed to Marie Claire that he was on set when the cast filmed the famous food fight sequence, stating, "He was itching to get into that scene. It was all so great to film." In the same interview, she admitted it was inspired by the recurring food fights she promoted in Xou da Xuxa (1988), and also had always imagined to do at birthday parties.
