Louis dismisses details of vampire lore, such as garlic and crosses, as superstition, and even describes the idea of Transylvania and Count Dracula as the "vulgar fictions of a demented Irishman," throwing shade at Bram Stoker. However, two major aspects of lore that are depicted as true which are the necessity of coffins and the ability of sunlight to harm or kill vampires are not authentic vampire lore at all but were invented as plot contrivances for Nosferatu - Il vampiro (1922), itself an unauthorized adaption of Dracula.
