On several occasions, Lou Ferrigno approached series creator Kenneth Johnson about having more speaking roles as the Hulk just like the character did in the comics. Johnson jokingly replied that he didn't think the Hulk should have a Brooklyn accent (of which Ferrigno had). In reality, Johnson didn't like the stilted "Hulk Smash" dialogue that the character had in the comics, so he felt the TV character was better suited with no dialogue.
