With the father infected and going to give his speech he will infect anyone he breathes around. There's no way that the virus would be able to be controlled or an antidote given to every person he came in contact with from the building and then the hospital. It would exponentially multiply from the people he infected to the ones they would inevitably infect. Now granted that a lot of this movie is far fetched at least they could've reigned back on this part a little so as not to imply that the audience would be dumb enough to think this virus wouldn't infect thousands in mere hours.
