Whenever Doc speaks, he uses malapropisms and spoonerisms. This was in part why comedian Roy Atwell (1878-1962) was hired for this role. His comedy act involved characters who were misdelivering lines or stammering. Atwell had started out as a dramatic actor. At one point, a misdelivered line by him caused the entire audience to laugh. He took notice and decided that he could have success in a comedic career, by intentionally using malapropisms.
