Another departure from the comics came with the creation of the Carnage symbiote, which is originally an offspring of Venom that was left behind after a prison escape to bond with serial killer Cletus Kasady. In the movie, Cletus Kasady bites Eddie Brock before his execution, which creates the Carnage symbiote with little explanation. Not only does Cletus gain a powerful symbiote suit, but Carnage also had a distinct personality.
