For this film, Brian DePalma did not employ his usual composers Pino Donaggio (they'd worked on five films together at this point) and Ennio Morricone, who had scored his two previous films "The Untouchables" and "Casualites of War" for him. He wanted a light and jaunty tone for the film so he hired Oscar Winner Dave Grusin, who also had co-owned the jazz label GRP Records at the time which coincidentally not far from DePalma's offices in New York.
