Most people think the movie's theme song, "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)", was written by Three Dog Night. Actually they only performed this hit in 1971. Randy Newman wrote it, but no one actually heard his 1966 version, until Three Dog Night, one of the most famous and successful cover bands in history, picked it up in 1971.
