Both Gru and Dru are based on one of two versions of Christopher Lloyd's portrayal of Fester Addams; Gru is based on his appearance from The Addams Family (1991), while Dru is based on his portrayal in the sequel, Addams Family Values (1993) specifically the scene where Fester and Debbie move into the new mansion and Fester, A.K.A "Mr. Debbie" is wearing the white suit and hair piece.
