Even though Tom's death is shockingly sudden, warning signs that the lighting rig could soon collapse are given in the background dialogue of the previous few minutes. For example, as Catrin is told about damage to the studio in an air raid, one of the grips can be seen reporting that the Big Boy rig has got a bit of a wobble; and on two later occasions a crew member is warned not to lean against it.
