The beginning and end sequences were filmed on [and around] Main Street [West and East] in Rochester, NY. It should be noted that Andrew Garfield was not in Rochester. It is also likely that Paul Giamatti was not in Rochester either. Also, many Rochester buildings are featured throughout the film during Spider-Man's web swinging.
