At the end of the film, Harry asks Dobby to promise that he will never try to save Harry's life again. Dobby smiles but does not verbally promise. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part One, Dobby dies saving Harry's life when he is stabbed by Bellatrix's knife.
