Throughout the film, Melinda's hairstyle changes. This symbolizes her sanity gradually slipping as the story goes on. During the scenes of her youth to when Robert gives her the $10 million check and the keys to her mother's house, her hair is mostly straight. Then, during the scenes where she goes to Robert's penthouse to her court-ordered therapy, her hair is wavy. Finally, during the last half of the film and as shown in the trailer, her hair is extremely curly.
