Even though the film's plot is said to have been an abandoned script for an episode of X-Files (1993) and was partially inspired by Ragnatela di morte (1984), the plot also borrows a number of elements from Ai confini della realtà: Twenty Two (1961), involving a woman who has a dream that she believes to be real and later on she witnesses the things that happened in her dream happen in real life, including a plane exploding on takeoff.
