Before his son Michael Attenborough brought Ben Kingsley to his attention, Richard Attenborough considered casting Anthony Hopkins, saying that "with some careful make-up and if he lost some weight," Hopkins would be convincing. Hopkins passed this idea by his father, who replied "So it's going to be a comedy, then, is it?" Hopkins ended up making five films with Attenborough: Gli anni dell'avventura (1972), Quell'ultimo ponte (1977), Magic (1978), Charlot - Chaplin (1992), and Viaggio in Inghilterra (1993). He later appeared with Kingsley in Autobahn - Fuori controllo (2016). The two actors also share a birthday: December 31.
