The original Mission: Impossible was one of three major television properties acquired by Paramount when they purchased Desilu Studios from Lucille Ball. The others were Star Trek (1966) and Gli intoccabili (1959). The film of The Untouchables - Gli intoccabili (1987) was directed by Brian De Palma, who also directed the original Mission: Impossible (1996) film. This film is directed by J.J. Abrams, who went on to direct Star Trek (2009).
