In the May 26, 1980 issue of The New Yorker, critic Roger Angell's original review of "Fame" elaborated specifically and at length for over a page and a half about the central storyline of the "Ralph Garcy" character in the film, only to wind up saying essentially nothing about whether or not he held a favorable or negative opinion of Barry Miller's performance in the role.
