When Seth and Nathaniel meet in the coffee shop "If God Will Send His Angels", performed by U2 can be heard in the background. Later the Irish rock band used the same coffee shop for the music video. The election of U2 for the movie is not casual because they played "Stay (Faraway, So Close!)" as soundtrack for Così lontano così vicino (1993), sequel of Il cielo sopra Berlino (1987). City of Angels is a remake of this movie.
