Chris Colfer said he learned from Twitter that he would soon be leaving Glee: and also the show would soon be cancelled. Ryan Murphy, the show Creator and Executive Producer then angrily told the media that both Colfer, Lea Michelle and Cory Monteith were all aware that he was planning to end the show soon; and their characters would be continuing in a spinoff show about the young characters as young adults in New York (a la Friends. The show even sends itself up and has the Glee cast in NYC; doing the opening number from Friends; with the title card CHUMS later; going along with this theme.) Murphy said Colfer was well aware that this was in the works at the time; and to suggest otherwise is "completely untrue", Murphy says. Reportedly; Murphy got so angry about this he scrapped the idea for a spinoff on the spot at this point.
