The Flerken cat is called Goose, an obvious reference to the character Nick "Goose" Bradshaw from Top Gun (1986). Also, Goose's son Lt. Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw appeared in the Top Gun sequel Top Gun: Maverick (2022), who was portrayed by Brie Larson's The Spectacular Now (2013) co-star Miles Teller.
