The last Pokémon that Ash has captured in every region are often a part of one-evolution families, with the exception of Gible and Krookodile. These include Phanpy in Johto, Snorunt in Hoenn, Aipom in Kanto (the second time), Noivern in Kalos and Melmetal in Alola. Of these seven, however, Aipom was the only one not to evolve under Ash's ownership.
