During the opening credits, there is a flyover shot of the town. When you see Jeffery Jones's, Catherine O'Hara's and Winona Ryder's names, the Maitlands' house is on the hill, just up and to the right of their names. This live flyover shot eventually cuts into a flyover of the model of the town and ends on the same house, but as a model.
