What made it easier for Rod Roddy, was when he visited the show, he paid attention to what his mentor/idol, Johnny Olson said on 'The Price is Right,' when Rod was being seated, right in the audience, and was taught how to say that phrase - 'Come On Down!' After Olson had passed away, and going on an replacement search for a new announcer, late in 1985, Rod Roddy was then hired by Mark Goodson to replace his mentor/idol, as announcer, for 17 1/2 years, until his passing in 2003.
