The staff mentioned that is was incredibly difficult coming up with a Kong design that pleased Tsuburaya. Several models were built before a final design was approved. Two Kong suits were made to portray the monster in the film. One suit had a flat head with shorter arms while the second one had a triangular head and elongated ape arms for chest-pounding. It also had moving eyelids.
