Antoine Depardieu is considered to be the "Vila Restal" of the cartoon. Vila Restal was a fictional character who Michael Keating played in the science fiction series Blake's 7 (1978). In the series, Vila Restal is a cowardly thief who is a member of the small crew of the alien spacecraft The Liberator, which the crew are freedom fighters fighting against the corrupt Terran Federation.
