Originally the Matrix of Leadership was going to be the powerful artifact the Transformers were searching for, but the writers thought it sounded too similar to Matrix (1999) and renamed it the All Spark (the concept itself was a hybrid of the Matrix, the Energon cubes from the television series, and the cube-shaped artifact the Underbase from the 1980's comics). The Matrix would appear in Transformers - La vendetta del caduto (2009), with its purpose altered to being a key to activate the solar harvester machine.
