The two tropical island comedies, Acqua in bocca (1985) and Club Paradise (1986), shared several commonalities. Both featured settings that were British Principalities in the Carribean with at least one pompous English government official. Both had reggae connections, Bob Marley in Acqua in bocca (1985), and Jimmy Cliff in Club Paradise (1986). Acqua in bocca (1985) was an English movie, and co-starred an American blonde, Brenda Vaccaro, whereas Club Paradise (1986) was an American movie, which co-starred an English blonde, Twiggy. Peter O'Toole is seen in Club Paradise (1986) in a 'Cocked Hat' just as 'Michael Caine' is in Acqua in bocca (1985). Both films were released in the U.S. within three months of each other.
