Rollo became ruler of Normandy in northern France, and his descendents became the Dukes of Normandy. He is the great-great-great-grandfather of William Duke of Normandy who in 1066 became to be known as William the Conqueror, or William I of England. Through William, he is one of the ancestors of the present-day British royal family. He is also an ancestor of the actor Danny Dyer.
